Medicare has certain coverage criteria to qualify a patient medically for reimbursement under code E0629. An Uplift Seat Assist would be considered medically necessary and qualify for reimbursement if all of the following coverage criteria were met:
The patient must have severe arthritis of the hip or knee, or have a neuromuscular disease
The seat lift mechanism (i.e. Uplift Seat Assist), must be part of the physician's course of treatment and be prescribed to affect improvement, or arrest or retard deterioration in the patient's condition.
The patient must be completely incapable of standing up from a regular armchair or any chair in their home.
Once standing, the patient must have the ability to walk.
Medicare requires a Certificate of Medical Necessity, also known as a CMN, to be completed and signed by your physician, based on your medical condition. If you qualify, Medicare will pay for 80% of the Medicare allowable cost of your Uplift Seat Assist.
Although Back Be Nimble does not accept direct payment from Medicare, if your physician submits a diagnosis and Certificate of Medical Necessity qualifying you for Medicare reimbursement; then what Medicare will reimburse you directly will more than cover what you paid Back Be Nimble for the Uplift Premium Seat Assist Plus.
